Weekend Sketch Challenge #62

This is the card I made for Beate's Weekend Sketch. I used a 3" x 6" card base of Bashful Blue. I stamped my image from Season of Simple Grace with Pacific Point Ink and the star with Bashful Blue Ink. I used Dazzling Diamonds Glitter on the baby and the star. You can't see it very well - but I added Clear Micro Beads on the edges of the Pacific Point Cardstock around my stamped image. I also covered by words with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter and punched them out with the Wide Oval Punch. I then added a blue rhinestone brad to the center of the star by removing the prongs with scissors and adhering with a glue dot! I love this color combo and I hope you enjoy the card!

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY!

How about a Technique Tuesday? I have been hesitate to give this a try as life always seems to get in the way when I make a huge committment! But - I figure I would give it a try as I am always up for something new - how about you?!! The technique that I have done today is called: "Faux Embossing" and I think it is an elegant look - don't you? Okay - well, let's get started!

Supplies Used:
Season of Simple Grace Stamp Set
Many Merry Messages Stamp Set
More Mustard Cardstock
Not Quite Navy Cardstock
White Vellum Cardstock
Not Quite Navy Classic Ink Pad
Night of Navy Classic Ink Pad
Whisper White Craft Ink Pad
Scallop Edge Border Punch
Gold Brads
Stamp-A-Ma-Jig
Step #1: Stamp your image on dark cardstock (not quite navy) with a dark ink (night of navy)
Step #2: Using your stamp-a-ma-jig, and whisper white craft ink, stamp your image again, off-setting it a little. (the dark ink will be a shadow). Let dry.

That's it - that's the technique!! Easy - right? I then layered my stamped image onto more mustard cardstock-white vellum cardstock- and not quite navy cardstock. I cut a 1/4" strip of not quite navy cardstock and applied a strip of white vellum cardstock (with punched scallop border) and fastened these together with gold brads and adhered to my card. I then stamped "noel" along the bottom.

If you like learning new techniques - I do a "Technique Class" on the 3rd. Monday of every month. In this class we make two technique cards along with a 6x6 technique page that has a copy of the card and the directions for future use! You can view my class calendar on my webiste for all the info. Enjoy!

Weekend Sketch Challenge #61

Okay - I did it again! The 2nd. weekend in a row that I took the Beate's WSC! This card is why out of the elements for me! Not even sure if I really like it! I used the set "Season of Friendship" from the Holiday Mini Catalog - I just love this tree!! I started by stamping the tree trunk with Chocolate Chip ink. I used Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, and Rose Red markers to ink the leaves. I then used my Coluzzle to cut the shape around the tree and mounted it to my card base, which is Pumpkin Pie. I used a 3/4" square punch and inserted these squares at an angle around the image shape. I then used my Large Circle Punch and Summer Sun cardstock - and also used the 3/4" square punch with Pumpkin Pie and Rose Red cardstock. I stamped my verse with chocolate chip and layered this across the circle. I mounted all this on the card with dimensionals. I then used my Crafter's Tool Kit to paper pierce - which is so much fun! Like I said - not really sure if I like the finished product - but it was fun doing something out of the ordinary for me!

Pumpkin Spinner Card

This is a card I learned to do a few years back. I LOVE pumpkins - FALL - harvest season... I just got this new "BIG SHOT" die and my new pumpkin embossing folder - so thought they would make a cute card! I started with So Saffron cardstock and made my card 4 1/4" x 4 1/4". I put the whole card in my embossing folder and ran it through my "BIG SHOT". I then layered a piece of Haiku Designer Paper over the card front (just attaching the corners and center of card) and used my coluzzle to cut a circle.
I cut two pumpkins out of Tangerine Tango (stems are chocolate chip), using my pumpkin die and attached a string between the two pumpkins. I then ran the string through the layer of designer paper and cardstock, using a glue dot to adhere the string tightly in place. The corners are done with my Photo Corner Punch and Kiwi Kiss Cardstock. I am really stuck on paper piercing these days - so of course, I got my Crafter's Tool Kit out and punched some holes!! I also used my white gel pen to do "faux stitching on the pumpkin" (the stitching is in the die!) I was pretty pleased with this card - hope you give it a try and email me your results!!

Card Sketch Challenge

Good Morning!
Yesterday, while planning my Punch Class for tonight, I decided to use Beate's Weekend Sketch challenge for my last card. If you sometimes struggle with the layout of your card - this could be helpful to you also! Here is what the sketch for this past weekend looks like:

And, here is the card I came up with...

I made my card base with Tangerine Tango (a new in-color!) The bottom layer is a strip (4 1/4" x 1 1/4") of Haiku Designer Paper layered on So Saffron. The next layer is a strip (2" x 3 3/4") of Haiku Designer Paper also layered on So Saffron. The top layer is a 2" x 3" piece of Very Vanilla layered on Tangerine Tango. The pumpkins are also Tangerine Tango and I used my Large Oval Punch and sponged the edges with Creamy Carmel. The stem is done using the Horizontal Slot Punch and Chocolate Chip cs. I made the leaf with Old Olive cs and the 5-Petal Flower Punch-I cut one of the petals off the flower and scored it down the middle. I also distressed the edge of the cardstock surrounding my pumpkins, using one of the tools from my Cutter Kit. I applied the pumpkins to my card using, Dimensionals (can I make a card without using dimensionals-not!) and tucked a fold piece of 5/8" Striped Tangerine Tango Ribbon under it. I then used the mat, stencil, and piercing tool from my Crafter's Tool Kit to add holes in the corners around the pumpin and then around the layers in the card. Not real happy with the stamping I did, but those stamps are from Everyday Fleixble Phrases, and I used Chocolate Chip classic ink. And there you have it! Those of you coming to my Punch Class tonight - will be making this card!!!

World Card Making Day

WORLD CARD MAKING DAY! WOW!
It was a stamping marathon at my house yesterday - making Christmas Cards! I actually made 18 cards myself - while helping others to make their cards! It was super easy with the SIMPLE SENT KIT - HANDMADE CHRISTMAS! Kit includes everything you need to make 18 CARDS - except the adhesive!

All you have to do is cut all card stock in half - and cut designer card stock into 1 1/2" strips. Add these strips and your self-adhesive die cuts as your embellishments and they are ready to go! This Simple Sent Card Element Kit coordinates beautifully with our stamp set: To You and Yours - which I used to stamp greetings on two of my samples. STAMPIN' UP! is currently offering all SIMPLY SENT kits at a 20% discount from October 4th. - October 11th.

AND - IF YOU PLACE YOUR ORDER WITH ME (sorry, online orders aren't included in this offer) I WILL GIVE YOU AN ADDITIONAL 20% OFF! That makes your cards less than $1.00 each - what a value - what a deal - right?!! So, here are the 3 cards from this kit (you have enough supplies to make 6 each of these 3 designs) HAPPY WORLD CARD MAKING DAY!

What is yummy, yummy for your tummy and a great fall snack? Why, Carmel Apples of course! FALL IS MY FAVORITE time of the year! Just wish we could skip the season after fall!! Anyway - I also love Carmel Apples! A friend of mine (thanks Linda!) passed on this carmel apple template by Lindsey Rickett. This was simple to make - I used Riding Hood Red and Chocolate Chip cardstock to make my apple (sponging around the edges) and then I used sticky strip to adhere the stick on the inside of the card. I then doused a layer of crystal effects over the whole card to get a "real apple" effect, tied red gingham and chocolate chip ribbon around the top of the stick - and there you have it - a carmel apple card that looks good enough to eat!
HEY - DON'T FORGET TO EMAIL ME - WITH YOUR GUESS OF THE DATE I SIGNED TO BECOME A SU DEMO!! (You could win a FREE CHRISTMAS CARD CLASS!)
I have had some close guesses - but not a correct guess as of yet!!
